Kuala Lumpur International Airport
Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), designated by IATA code KUL, is a major aviation hub in Malaysia. The airport comprises two terminals: KLIA Terminal 1 (T1) and KLIA Terminal 2 (T2).
Malaysia Airlines

Upon arrival at KLIA, you will find various transportation options to reach the city centre from KLIA Terminal 1 and KLIA Terminal 2. The recommended option is the KLIA Ekspres.
KLIA Ekspres
As the official airport transfer partner of CHES 2025, KLIA Ekspres offers 10% discount on train fares between KLIA (both terminals T1 and T2) and KL Sentral Station, the city's main transportation hub. The journey from KL Sentral to KLIA T1 takes 28 minutes, with an additional 3-minute connection to T2. The details are provided as follows.

KLIA Ekspres tickets can be purchased through the KLIA Ekspres website, mobile application, or self-service kiosks.
Additionally, you may opt for the VIP service, which includes door-to-door service with meet-and-greet assistance, porter service for luggage handling, priority seating in dedicated carriages, and chauffeured limousine transfers to your final destination. To book the VIP service, send an email to VIPservice@KLIAekspres.com at least 7 days in advance. The service also offers on option for group travel, accommodating up to 7 people.
On the Road (Car)
Driving from Singapore
To enter Malaysia with a Singapore-registered car, apply for a Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP) from the Malaysia's Road Transport Department website. Review border crossing requirements (this blog post provides helpful information).
Driving from Thailand
To enter Malaysia with a Thailand-registered car, obtain an International Circulation Permit (ICP). Refer to Malaysia's Road Transport Department website for details.
After clearing immigration and entering Malaysia, you can use navigation apps such as Google Maps, Waze, or Apple Maps to guide you to Kuala Lumpur.
Rail Adventure (Train)
From Singapore
Head to the Woodlands Train Checkpoint and board the KTM Shuttle Tebrau train. Tickets can be purchased in advance through the KTM website. The train ride takes about 5 minutes.
Upon arrival at Johor Bahru (JB) Sentral, you can reach KL Sentral, Kuala Lumpur, by train. Here is how:.
- JB Sentral to Gemas: Board the train from JB Sentral to Gemas. The journey is about 4 hours and 45 minutes.
- Gemas to KL Sentral: Upon arrival in Gemas, transfer to the ETS train and head towards KL Sentral. This segment takes about 2 hours and 30 minutes.
Each leg of the journey requires a separate ticket, which can be purchased through KTM's website.
From Thailand
Once you have crossed the border at Padang Besar, Perlis, here is how to continue your journey to Kuala Lumpur:
- Padang Besar Immigration Checkpoint to Padang Besar KTM Station: After clearing immigration, take a short 15-minute taxi ride to the Padang Besar KTM Station.
- Padang Besar KTM Station to KL Sentral: Board the train from Padang Besar to KL Sentral. The journey takes approximately 5 hours and 30 minutes, depending on the train class you choose.
Tickets are available for purchase on KTM's website.
At KL Sentral, you can access various public transportation to reach your accommodation, which includes the LRT Kelana Jaya line, MRT Kajang Line (KG15 Muzium Negara Station) and the Monorail.
Hop on a Coach (Bus)
There are various direct bus services from Singapore to Johor Bahru (JB) Sentral. Upon arrival, follow the guide below to continue to Kuala Lumpur.
- JB Sentral to Larkin Bus Terminal: Take the Causeway Link bus (T13) from JB Sentral to Larkin Bus Terminal. Tickets can be purchased on board using cash or cashless payment. The 11-minute journey schedule is available here.
- Larkin Bus Terminal to Terminal Bersepadu Selatan (TBS): From Larkin, board a bus to Terminal Bersepadu Selatan (TBS) in Kuala Lumpur. The trip takes approximately 4 hours and 30 minutes.
- TBS to Kuala Lumpur: At TBS, take the LRT Sri Petaling Line towards Sentul Timur to reach various stops in Kuala Lumpur. Refer to the route map under the Sri Petaling Line tab for details.
Getting to the Conference Venue: Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre
There are several ways to reach the venue within the city centre by train:
- MRT Putrajaya Line: Disembark at Conlay Station (PY22). View route map here.
- LRT Kelana Jaya Line: Disembark at KLCC Station (KJ10). View route map here.
- MRT Kajang Line: Disembark at Bukit Bintang Station (KG18A). View route map here.
- Monorail: Disembark at Bukit Bintang Station (MR6) or Raja Chulan Station (MR7). View route map here.
From Bukit Bintang Station (KG18A/MR6), walk to Pavilion Kuala Lumpur. Enter the mall and follow signs to the pedestrian bridge to KLCC. For guidance, watch this helfpful Youtube video. On Level 3, look for the "Bridge to KL Convention Centre" sign. The air-conditioned walkway takes about 15 minutes.
Banquet
The banquet will be hosted at the Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur, located between the conference venue and the Petronas Twin Towers.
